2017 spring semester is starting from February 23, 2017 to June 30, 2017. Students should sign up on February 23 and February 24. School placement is as follows:
Ⅰ. Entering School
1. New student please register first on http://gdufs.17gz.org/ and then submit the copy of passport, copy of visa and 3 photos in Room 102.
2. Pay the tuition by credit card and take tuition invoice: you can pay tuition by credit card (union pay card acceptable only)at Office 102 or pay cash at Bank of China located near the main gate with the bank note taken from Room 102. The receipt note must be returned to the working staff in Room 102 for invoice as the payment proof. (***very important, payment proof)
3. Currency exchange is available at second floor of bank of China with your passport and its copy.
4. Buy insurance(cash only). Insurance fee: 300 RMB/semester,600 RMB/year.
Ⅱ. Language Test for New Students and Class Grouping
1. Test for New Student. Time: 9:00-11:30, 14:00-16:00 February 23 and February 24(Thursday and Friday). Test room: Room 215
2. Classes begin on February 28(Tuesday). The class grouping list will be announced on the bulletin board of teaching affairs in the lobby of IIE on February 27. You can take curriculum schedules from the nearby shelf. Textbooks can be purchased in Room 105.
(For the keep-on-studying students who took the final exam last semester, please check the class grouping list on the bulletin board of teaching affairs in the lobby of IIE on February 27. The keep-on-studying students who did not take the final exam last semester must take the language test. Test time and location is the same as the test for new student.)
Ⅲ. Campus Life arrangements
1. Accommodation:
Please pay fees at the IIE Room 102 and check in at the IIE residence hall reception desk with the voucher.
Room Rates: Double room: RMB 4800/semester/bed; Four-bed room: RMB 2400/semester/bed.
Water and electricity fees, free Internet are included. Use of laundry and kitchen are free. Internet could be activated 72 hours after check-in.
Bedding: students buy bedding by themselves.
The exceeded part of water and electricity fee should be borne by students themselves.
Those who damage items in the dormitory should compensate the loss according to the original price.
Duration of staying dormitory: from the check-in day to 3 days at the most after the end of the semester (February 25to July 3). Additional fees will be charged for exceeding this day.
International students staying in the residence hall during winter and summer holidays must pay accommodation fees (Double Room: RMB 1250/person; Four-bed room: RMB 650/person).
The dormitory offers free luggage storage to keep-on-study students who pay accommodation fees for the next semester. Please pay the fees at least one week before the current semester ends (June23). For the luggage storage: Students are required to pack up and label their belongings beforehand and move them to the appointed place. NO VALUABLES are accepted for luggage storage. We are not responsible for any loss or damages.
2. Dining: The canteens and restaurants on campus accept campus card for payment only. The card can be purchased from Miss. Huang in Room 102. The campus card costs 100 RMB in total,30 RMB is the cost of making the card and 70 RMB is the balance. The card can be recharged at the Card Center in the lobby of No.2 Teaching building. Students can earmark money for hot water fee from the card centre located beside the No.1student canteen. The balance and the cost of making the card are refundable within 5 months, after which only the balance is refundable.
3. Network: Students living on campus may apply for the internet service at the dormitory reception when they check in. Those living outside the campus may fill the internet application form in office 102 and pay the fee in office 409 at No.2 academic building by bank card( union pay card).
4. Student card: Students can get student card from Mr. Liu in Room 102 after 2 weeks upon the beginning of the courses.
5. Library: Students can apply for the library card from Mr. Cai in Room 103, with which the university library is accessible.
Ⅳ. Opening Ceremony and Introductory Conference for New Students
1. The opening ceremony is going to be held in Room 106 located in No.7 Teaching Building on Feb.27 (Monday), 14:00PM. All the new students and keep-on-study students must participate in this opening ceremony.
2. Introductory Conference for New Students: It will be held after the Opening Ceremony. Students are required to attend the introductory conference with the language they are familiar with. In the conference, we will (1) brief international student with administration rules and regulations; (2) take up any questions concerning the application of visas and residence permits. The place will be published on the bulletin, please have a check first.
Ⅴ. Visa ( ***Essential! Please follow the instruction to apply for the visa, otherwise it may cause penalty or even deportation)
Before Feb.27 finish the medical examination in Health Care Center of Guangdong International Travel. (**Please consult with office 102 about the online reservation)
Before Mar.1 make “Registration Form of Temporary Residence for Visitors”. Students living on campus dormitory should make this document at Office 103, others should make it by themselves.
Before Mar.8 preparing documents for visa. All students applying for visa must take the stamped “Visa Certificate” at Office 102.

Mar.13 14:00 immigration officers are taking your visa documents in room 106. (please go to the 103 office to fill in the EMS mail invoice in advance.
Students must stand in a line, present your proof-of-document to take back your online application code, “Visa Certificate” and “Registration Form of Temporary Residence for Visitors”.

2. “Registration Form of Temporary Residence for Visitors”.
a. All the foreign students should apply for the Registration of Temporary Residence for Visitors within 24 hours after their arrival in Guangzhou, after obtaining the new visa , they should also renew the Temporary Residence for Visitors within 24 hours. Those who fail to go through accommodation registration procedures will be fined or suffer even more serious punishment such as cancelling the visa.
b. For the students living in the north campus’ dormitory, they can apply at the police office near to the No.1 student canteen. For those who live outside the campus, they can go to the local police station to apply for the Registration of Temporary Residence for Visitors.
c. Documents required: the photocopy of passport and visa, one visa photo.
3.Please fill your address and mobile number in EMS shipment waybill and prepare the change for the post fee before applying the visa.
Ⅵ. Chinese Language courses and “Chinese-corner Series Activities”
1. Language courses: both morning and afternoon, Monday – Friday, including 4 Chinese language lessons (about 3 hours).
2. “Chinese-corner series activities”: 18:30-20:00, Cantonese, Chinese martial art, calligraphy, Handicraft and paper-cut, etc. Activities start on Mar.6 (the second Monday). Courses arrangements are subject to the curriculum schedule.
3. Two visits or travels will be organized for each semester and fees will be shared out equally by IIE and the student. Detailed arrangements will be announced in advance by then.
