North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, March 9th2018: 2018 is the 15th anniversary of the cooperation between GDUFS and University of Queensland, Australia. The two universities started exchange visits in 2003, and signed an inter-school cooperation agreement in 2004. On March 8th, a series of activities related to “University of Queensland Day” was held at GDUFS. To celebrate the 15-year-old cooperation, review the achievement results and plan for the future cooperation, SUI Guangjun, President and Party Secretary of GDUFS and Peter H?j, President of University of Queensland, attended the conference of the Report on GDUFS-UQ Cooperation Results and Scholarship of University of Queensland, which was held in the Library Hall and hosted by CHEN Linhan, Vice President of GDUFS.

SUI Guangjun gave a basic introduction of UQ and GDUFS, reviewed the mutual international cooperation and communications over the past 15 years, and at the same time introduced the cooperative projects and results. He expressed that Peter H?j’s first visit marked the new development stage of the cooperation and he hoped the two universities would achieve comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship, broaden the fields of cooperation, promote mutual development and achieve friendly exchanges between China and Australia.
Peter H?j expressed that GDUFS had a good academic reputation, and the two universities have achieved a series of results in teaching, scientific research and student exchanges. He hoped more students would study at the University of Queensland via GDUFS in the future.
Two Presidents visited the display board of cooperation results
GUO Guihang, Dean of the School of English for International Business; ZHU Wenzhong, Dean of the School of Business; JIANG Jilu, Vice Dean of the School of Accounting, and WEI Huiliang (conducted the work), Vice Dean of the International College, also attended the activity and made statements. They introduced the related circumstances of the cooperation and communications between their schools and UQ. From the exchange student programs to academic communication activities, different cultures gave different experiences to students and teachers of the two countries. They hoped the two universities would enhance the exchange programs and deepen the cooperation and development. The student representatives who took part in the exchange programs also made speeches about their exchange experiences at the University of Queensland.
The Report on GDUFS-UQ Cooperation Results and UQ Scholarship Conference
In the morning, UQ’s series of speeches were held in the International Conference Hall of the Administration Building. The speech was hosted by both YI Zongyong, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Andrew Griffiths, Executive Director of the School of Business, the School of Economics and the Law School of UQ. During the speeches, attendees from UQ shared their experience concerning different themes. They were Julie Cogin, Dean of the School of Business; Victor Callan, Vice Dean of the School of Business, Economics and Law; ZHU Yunxia, Associate Professor of the School of Business, and Peter Newcombe, Associate Professor of Psychology.
It was reported that until now, the number of different kinds of students that GDUFS sent to UQ has reached about 1000. Besides, the two universities launched activities of teachers communicating, scholars visiting and cooperative study in fields such as international business, international finance, international trade, accounting, law and computer.
On the morning of March 8th, the signing ceremony of the “2+2 Undergraduate Agreement” between UQ‘s School of Business, Economics and Law and GDUFS’s School of Accounting and Finance was held in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building on the North Campus. SUI Guangjun, President and Party Secretary of GDUFS, and Peter H?j, President of UQ signed the agreement on behalf of the two universities.
